What I ate | 28/12/14

I thought it would be interesting to start a series of what I eat during the day on my blog as I loved Anna Sacone's "What I Ate" blog posts.

Pre-Breakfast

As I am lactose intolerant , before I consumed my breakfast I took a couple of my lacteeze enzyme tablets so I could eat my breakfast as I knew it contained dairy products.

Breakfast

I went to Top Paddock and ordered the ricotta and blueberry hotcakes which was absolutely delicious. I also had a chai tea with soy milk but I had forgotten to take a picture of it!

Snack

After breakfast, my mum and I went to the chinese grocer and I picked up a soya bean drink.

Lunch

Mum made some homemade spaghetti marinara for lunch which included salmon, squid ,clams and seaweed. I also had a glass of water

Dinner

I went out with my cousins and had a caeser salad.

Products I would not recommend!

Here are a few products that I have tried and I would not recommend buying!

Etude House Beauty Sponge

This product is absolutely horrible! When you add water to it stays rock hard which is the opposite in what you want in a sponge. You would want it to be light and soft not heavy and hard. Compared to the beauty blender this is a rock.

Becca Ever-Matte Poreless Priming Perfector

With this primer you are meant to warm it between your fingers before you apply it to your face. It feels extremely sticky and doesn't set well into my face.

MAC Pro Longwear Concealer

I used to love this concealer, it provided me with good coverage but the downside for this product is that it broke me out and the pump gave out too much product.

Elf Blush Brush

The quality of this brush isn't very good as after the first time I used it the handle broke off, but at least I didn't pay a lot of money for this brush.

Too Faced No Makeup Makeup Palette

This palette is not worth the money as the concealer is very cakey and too dark for my skin tone. The bronzing veil is more of a highlighter than a bronzer as it is very shimmery and light. It would be better to spend your money elsewhere.

Studying!

We all know that we would rather spend our time after school relaxing after a hard day but this is not always the case as we have to study.  I thought it would be helpful sharing how I study for tests and exams as we are heading back to school!

For a subject such as Biology or Science, I would gather all my notes that I was given by the teacher and highlight the important sections. It is always handy to ask your teacher if there is a revision sheet or a list of the topics that the test or exam is on as you can focus on studying on those topics.

After highlighting , I make a revision sheet by typing out all the sections I highlighted onto a word document. It is helpful in the long run to type out your notes as you can re-use them for exams without worrying they would get lost.

I would then go through the revision sheet and read through it a couple of times and sometimes I would write out my revision sheet onto a piece of paper. I find writing the information makes me understand the topic better.

For languages or learning vocabulary I find cue cards extremely helpful. I create my cue cards online on the website "Brainscape" as when I usually make paper cue cards I always seem to lose them.

The only bad thing about my study habits is that it takes a lot of effort and time, but in the end when you get a good mark it is all worth it!

Other Helpful Tips!

1. Clear out your work space so you have a neat area to study in. By having a messy work area you are highly likely to get distracted by the objects around you.

2. Don't play music that you are likely to sing to as it will distract you from studying. Trust me when I listen to one direction I can never concentrate properly.

3. For exams, it is helpful to review revisions sheets and cue cards you have made for previous topics and old worksheets you have completed.

4. It is very important to take breaks in-between your study session, as without breaks it can decrease your performance in studying.

5. If you have no motivation, think about something you really want such as maybe a makeup product and if you get a good score on your test you can reward yourself.

I hope these tips helped you!

Spring Makeup

I have recently been loving the minimal makeup look as it is now finally Spring!

1. I prime my face with MAC Prep + Prime Skin Base Visage which makes my skin feel nice and smooth.

2. Recently instead of using a foundation I have just been using my NARS radiant creamy concealer which provides enough coverage for my face. I blend two shades of the concealer together which is "Vanilla" and "Custard" to match my skin tone, which then I apply it on my blemishes with a beauty blender. The beauty blender naturally blends the concealer into your face without leaving any harsh lines like a brush would. Then to cover and highlight underneath my eyes I apply the concealer in "Vanilla".
In the shade "Vanilla" and "Custard"

3. I set my face with the Bare Mineral Translucent Touch Up Veil using patting motions so I don't sweep away any concealer.

4. Then to bronze my face I use the NARS Laguna Bronzer with my Real Techniques blush brush.

5. To give my face a healthy glow I use the NARS blush in the shade "Deep Throat" with my xobeauty angled blush brush.

6. To fill in my eyebrows and give them shape I use the Benefit Gimme Brow.
In the shade medium/deep

7. Curling my eyelashes before apply my mascara is a must! I use my Shu Uemura eye lash curler and then I apply the Maybelline The Rocket Volume Express mascara

8. To give my lips a light sheen and to hydrate them I apply Smith's Rosebud Salve.

I hope you enjoyed this post!

Current Favourite Beauty Products

Hello Everyone!

These holidays I have been loving some products and I would love to share my opinion on them with you.

NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer

In the shade Vanilla and Custard

This concealer is absolutely amazing. It provides me a with a really good coverage to cover up any blemishes or dark circles underneath my eyes. This product also doesn't break me out unlike the MAC prolong wear concealer. The consistency of this concealer is not watery but  has a creamy consistency as mentioned in the name of the product. As you can tell in the picture I have two concealers. One of them is in the shade "Vanilla" to highlight my face and to cover up my under eye area, and the other shade is in "Custard" which is my skin colour, used to cover up any blemishes or imperfections on my face. Recently I haven't been wearing any foundation in my makeup routine , as the concealer gives me a flawless coverage. I would highly recommend this product , it is definitely worth the price.

This product can be found in Mecca for $35

Benefit Gimme Brow

In the shade medium/deep

I have been using this product a lot recently as it is really quick and easy. It adds fibres to your brows making it seem like you have more brow hairs. I am usually reluctant to use some brow products as I am weary that they would make my brows way too dark  ( because we have all seen someone with overdrawn heavy brows) , as I already have dark brow hairs. But this product makes my brows look naturally full whilst giving it some shape. It also acts as a brow gel which keeps your brows in place all day , it doesn't leave a crusty feeling when you apply it to your brows unlike clear mascaras.

This product can be found at Myer for $32

Maybelline The Rocket Volume Express

This has been my go to mascara this month since my Maybelline The Falsies mascara ran out. It separates my lashes whilst giving them volume and a bit of length. The bristles on the wand a very short and pointy which was a downside for me as when I accidentally poked my eye with this mascara it felt like it was stabbing me! That is something to be weary about this product, but in general it is a really good mascara which separates my eyelashes and gives them a lot of volume.

This product is not out for sale in Australia ( I got it from Japan)

I hope you enjoyed this blog post about my current favourites!

Everyday Makeup Routine

Hello!

So this post is going to be about my everyday makeup routine. I don't wear makeup everyday as my school does not allow it but I wear it on the weekends when I go out.

Step 1

So first I have to prep my skin for foundation as I have oily skin otherwise my makeup will literally slip off during the day.

I use MAC Prep + Prime Skin Base Visage as a primer which provides me with a silky and smooth base for my foundation. I apply this to my face with my clean hands.

Step 2.

Depending on how my skin is on a particular day I would either choose my MAC Studio Fix Fluid in the shade NC20 for more of a full coverage face or I would go for the not as full coverage option which is my Benefit Big Easy Bigger Than BB foundation in the shade 02 Light.

I use my xobeauty flat top Synthetic Face Brush to Buff all my foundation in. I absolutely love this brush as it blends my foundation in seamlessly.

Step 3.

I have really dark under eye circles ( mainly because I've been staying up too late whoops!) so I use one of my favourite under eye concealers which is the Maybelline instant age rewind concealer. I usually blend this in with the tip of my beauty blender which gives it the best result but if I am too lazy I would just use my ring finger instead.

Step 4.

To set the base I use my Sephora matte powder foundation in the shade 23 , clair light which I blend it with a Real Techniques powder brush.

Step 5.

To contour my face and to make it appear slimmer I use my Nars Bronzer in Laguna which I mainly focus it on my cheek bones which I apply it with my Real Techniques contour brush.

Step 6.

To bring some more colour back into my face I use my coralista to give myself a flushed appearance with the xobeauty angled blush brush.

Step 7.

To add a glow to my face I use my Benefit girl meets pearl which I absolutely love!
I dab a bit of this onto my finger and apply it to the tops of my cheek bone and cupids bow.

Step 8.

I apply my Urban Decay primer potion to my eyelid and then usually for eye shadow I choose one base shade and a inner corner shade which is from my MAC palette , I apply this with my MAC 239 and 217 brush.

Step 9.

As my eyelashes are not curly I use my Shu Uemura eye lash curler to curl my lashes,
then I apply Maybelline the falsies flared mascara.

Step 10.

For my brows sometimes I would fill it in with this japanese eye brow powder/pencil and set it with a random clear mascara.

I know this is a lot of makeup for an everyday look but I only wear makeup on the weekends so I usually go all out.

I hope you enjoyed it!
