What I ate | 28/12/14

I thought it would be interesting to start a series of what I eat during the day on my blog as I loved Anna Sacone's "What I Ate" blog posts.

Pre-Breakfast

As I am lactose intolerant , before I consumed my breakfast I took a couple of my lacteeze enzyme tablets so I could eat my breakfast as I knew it contained dairy products.

Breakfast

I went to Top Paddock and ordered the ricotta and blueberry hotcakes which was absolutely delicious. I also had a chai tea with soy milk but I had forgotten to take a picture of it!

Snack

After breakfast, my mum and I went to the chinese grocer and I picked up a soya bean drink.

Lunch

Mum made some homemade spaghetti marinara for lunch which included salmon, squid ,clams and seaweed. I also had a glass of water

Dinner

I went out with my cousins and had a caeser salad.

Products I would not recommend!

Here are a few products that I have tried and I would not recommend buying!

Etude House Beauty Sponge

This product is absolutely horrible! When you add water to it stays rock hard which is the opposite in what you want in a sponge. You would want it to be light and soft not heavy and hard. Compared to the beauty blender this is a rock.

Becca Ever-Matte Poreless Priming Perfector

With this primer you are meant to warm it between your fingers before you apply it to your face. It feels extremely sticky and doesn't set well into my face.

MAC Pro Longwear Concealer

I used to love this concealer, it provided me with good coverage but the downside for this product is that it broke me out and the pump gave out too much product.

Elf Blush Brush

The quality of this brush isn't very good as after the first time I used it the handle broke off, but at least I didn't pay a lot of money for this brush.

Too Faced No Makeup Makeup Palette

This palette is not worth the money as the concealer is very cakey and too dark for my skin tone. The bronzing veil is more of a highlighter than a bronzer as it is very shimmery and light. It would be better to spend your money elsewhere.

Since I have recently uploaded a post all about my favourite beauty Youtubers, I thought it would be a good idea to share with you some other channels which I love that are non beauty related.

This list is in no particular order.

Studying!

We all know that we would rather spend our time after school relaxing after a hard day but this is not always the case as we have to study.  I thought it would be helpful sharing how I study for tests and exams as we are heading back to school!

For a subject such as Biology or Science, I would gather all my notes that I was given by the teacher and highlight the important sections. It is always handy to ask your teacher if there is a revision sheet or a list of the topics that the test or exam is on as you can focus on studying on those topics.

After highlighting , I make a revision sheet by typing out all the sections I highlighted onto a word document. It is helpful in the long run to type out your notes as you can re-use them for exams without worrying they would get lost.

I would then go through the revision sheet and read through it a couple of times and sometimes I would write out my revision sheet onto a piece of paper. I find writing the information makes me understand the topic better.

For languages or learning vocabulary I find cue cards extremely helpful. I create my cue cards online on the website "Brainscape" as when I usually make paper cue cards I always seem to lose them.

The only bad thing about my study habits is that it takes a lot of effort and time, but in the end when you get a good mark it is all worth it!

Other Helpful Tips!

1. Clear out your work space so you have a neat area to study in. By having a messy work area you are highly likely to get distracted by the objects around you.

2. Don't play music that you are likely to sing to as it will distract you from studying. Trust me when I listen to one direction I can never concentrate properly.

3. For exams, it is helpful to review revisions sheets and cue cards you have made for previous topics and old worksheets you have completed.

4. It is very important to take breaks in-between your study session, as without breaks it can decrease your performance in studying.

5. If you have no motivation, think about something you really want such as maybe a makeup product and if you get a good score on your test you can reward yourself.

I hope these tips helped you!

Spring Makeup

I have recently been loving the minimal makeup look as it is now finally Spring!

1. I prime my face with MAC Prep + Prime Skin Base Visage which makes my skin feel nice and smooth.

2. Recently instead of using a foundation I have just been using my NARS radiant creamy concealer which provides enough coverage for my face. I blend two shades of the concealer together which is "Vanilla" and "Custard" to match my skin tone, which then I apply it on my blemishes with a beauty blender. The beauty blender naturally blends the concealer into your face without leaving any harsh lines like a brush would. Then to cover and highlight underneath my eyes I apply the concealer in "Vanilla".
In the shade "Vanilla" and "Custard"

3. I set my face with the Bare Mineral Translucent Touch Up Veil using patting motions so I don't sweep away any concealer.

4. Then to bronze my face I use the NARS Laguna Bronzer with my Real Techniques blush brush.

5. To give my face a healthy glow I use the NARS blush in the shade "Deep Throat" with my xobeauty angled blush brush.

6. To fill in my eyebrows and give them shape I use the Benefit Gimme Brow.
In the shade medium/deep

7. Curling my eyelashes before apply my mascara is a must! I use my Shu Uemura eye lash curler and then I apply the Maybelline The Rocket Volume Express mascara

8. To give my lips a light sheen and to hydrate them I apply Smith's Rosebud Salve.

I hope you enjoyed this post!
